Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have received a setback in their pursuit of Piero Hincapie, who has reportedly agreed to sign a new Bayer Leverkusen contract.
The Ecuador international joined Leverkusen in August 2021, and he has gone on to make 42 appearances for the club, chipping in with two goals and one assist.
Hincapie's performances have led to interest from a number of clubs, including North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
Despite signing a five-year deal when he arrived in Leverkusen, according to Football Insider, Hincapie has reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club over a new contract, which offers improved terms than his current deal.
The latest news will come as a blow for the interested Premier League clubs after Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici made contact with the player's agent, while a recent report indicated that Arsenal were considering a move.
Although Hincapie is set to put pen to paper on a new deal, there is still a belief that Hincapie's situation will continue to be monitored by Arsenal and Spurs.
