Crewe Alexandra target permanent deal for Chuks Aneke

Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker admits that the League One club are keen to sign Arsenal striker Chuks Aneke on a permanent deal.

Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker has admitted that the club will face "real competition" in their attempts to sign Arsenal striker Chuks Aneke.

Aneke finished last season as the club's top goalscorer with 16 goals in all competitions, but despite indicating that the 20-year-old is top of their wishlist, Baker believes that they might struggle to complete a permanent deal for the attacker.

Baker told BBC Radio Stoke: "We'd love to sign Chuks, but we'll face real competition. He's top of our list, but there will be clubs at a higher level that are interested."

The former England Under-19 international has also spent time away from the Emirates Stadium at Preston North End and Stevenage.
