Liverpool have reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal in the pursuit of AS Nancy starlet Bilel Hassaini this summer by making a bid for the youngster.
The French side are prepared to dispense with several players during this window as they look to raise money to avoid relegation to the third tier.
Hassaini has attracted the interest of potential suitors by impressing in an attacking midfield role for France at youth level.
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal are among the clubs interested in Hassaini but have yet to make a bid, prompting Liverpool to jump ahead of the Gunners by making an offer of their own.
Paris Saint-Germain also made an approach for the 18-year-old, and were reportedly willing to shell out £300,000, but the deal ended up falling through.
Hassaini's contract expired at the end of the 2018-19 campaign and the Frenchman is yet to agree fresh terms with Nancy amid interest from a number of top clubs.
