Freddie Ljungberg 'genuine candidate for full-time Arsenal job'

Arsenal interim coach Freddie Ljungberg is reportedly a genuine candidate for the permanent manager role at the Emirates.

Arsenal interim coach Freddie Ljungberg has been reportedly considered as a genuine candidate for the permanent manager role at the Emirates.

The former midfielder, who spent nine seasons at the North London club, was confirmed as interim boss following their decision to sack Unai Emery last week.

Ljungberg's first game in the dugout saw his Arsenal side claim a 2-2 draw with Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Evening Standard, the club's hierarchy will give Ljungberg the chance to prove himself ahead of choosing a permanent coach.

It has been claimed that Arsenal plan to take their time when it comes to appointing the club's next manager due to the difficulty of recruiting the best managers midway through a campaign.

Brendan Rodgers, Mikel Arteta, Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti and Nuno Espirito Santo have all been mentioned as candidates for the position.
