Manchester City reportedly join the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha for £40m.

Premier League leaders Manchester City have reportedly joined the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha's recent form has been instrumental in helping Palace climb off the bottom of the table and up to 14th, with the forward having scored four goals and contributed three assists in his last 12 outings.

The 25-year-old is also coming off the back of his best-ever season during which he scored seven and set up a further 11, launching him back on the radar of some of England's biggest clubs.

Zaha previously spent an unsuccessful spell at Manchester United, failing to make a single Premier League start for the club during his two-year stay at Old Trafford.

However, The Mirror reports that City are considering bringing the Ivory Coast international back to Manchester as a possible alternative to Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez has long been linked with a move to City and is available on a free transfer at the end of the season, but Pep Guardiola's side are expected to face stiff opposition for his signature from Paris Saint-Germain.

That has forced them to lay the foundations for a possible Zaha bid, although the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal are also thought to be interested in the winger, who only signed a new five-year deal at Selhurst Park in May.
