Report: Alex McCarthy on Arsenal, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers radar

Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is believed to be a transfer target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly joined the race to sign Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

The 28-year-old started the season as back-up to Fraser Forster but has since made the number one jersey his own, making 17 Premier League appearances as the Saints survived the drop.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners are seeking a replacement for Petr Cech, who has largely struggled this season, and believe that McCarthy is a viable option.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are thought to be eager to bring in a new goalkeeper, with doubts remaining over the long-term Anfield futures of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

As for Wolves, their promotion to the Premier League has left them wanting to strengthen in all areas to give them a better chance of enjoying a successful debut season in the top flight.

McCarthy, who joined Southampton from Crystal Palace in 2016, has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping 11 clean sheets.
