Mick McCarthy remains positive on Tyrone Mings interest

Mick McCarthy sees Arsenal's interest in Tyrone Mings as a positive for Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has continued to view Arsenal's interest in Tyrone Mings as a plus for his side, claiming that big teams monitoring his players should be taken as a positive.

Mings, 21, was the subject of a failed £3m bid from Crystal Palace in August, and he is now reportedly valued at as much as £10m by Ipswich, who are aware of Arsenal's scouts attending Portman Road.

"I hope it affects him and he plays even better because he knows people are coming to watch him," McCarthy is quoted as saying by the East Anglian Daily Times.

"Why can't we take it as a positive thing? If Arsene Wenger was looking at me my chest would be pumped. I think it's doing us a favour.

"Listen, Ty wants to get in the Premier League with us. If it doesn't happen, and Arsenal want to come and throw loads of money at him, then there's not much we can do other than negotiate and see what happens."

Ipswich paid £10,000 to Wiltshire-based non-league club Chippenham Town for Mings in December 2012.
