Mesut Ozil has reportedly held talks with DC United over a potential move to Major League Soccer in January 2021.
The Arsenal midfielder has returned to favour under new Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta, although he was substituted after 55 minutes on Tuesday against Chelsea.
According to the Daily Mail, Ozil spoke with DC United representatives in London on Tuesday about a move to the Washington-based side.
The report adds that DC first spoke with the German in August 2019, although the club believe that any deal to sign him will have to wait until 2021.
The MLS club are said to be lining Ozil up as their next marquee signing after Wayne Rooney departed for Derby County during the off-season.
Ozil has made 14 Premier League appearances this season, scoring no goals and registering one assist.
