Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he will hold talks with Emile Smith Rowe over a new contract at the club.
The Hale End academy product has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Arteta this term, banking two goals and seven assists across all competitions at senior level.
A recent report claimed that Arsenal were planning to sit down with Smith Rowe and discuss rewarding his performances with a new-and-improved offer, and Arteta has now confirmed that such talks will take place soon.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the under-fire Arsenal boss said: "We are going to have that discussion.
"I think Emile has earned the right to look at that situation because of the performances that he has produced. He's very much engaged and wants to continue with us, that's for sure."
Smith Rowe spent time out on loan at RB Leipzig and Huddersfield Town before establishing himself as an important member of Arteta's squad, and his existing Emirates deal is not due to expire until 2023.
