Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hailed the arrival of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, claiming that the playmaker "made us better" last season.
The Gunners confirmed the arrival of the 22-year-old on a permanent deal on Friday morning, with Real Madrid reportedly pocketing €35m (£29.6m) from his sale.
Odegaard is expected to slot straight in to the number 10 role, and Arteta has talked up the Norwegian's qualities following his return to North London.
Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Chelsea, Arteta said: "Well a lot of things that he brought last season. He made us better.
"We needed more options, more alternatives, creativity and players that can be models in this football club. I am delighted the club has made an effort and we have Martin here."
Odegaard will wear the number eight shirt at Arsenal but will not be available to face Chelsea due to visa issues.
