Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has insisted that Laurent Koscielny still has a future at the club despite refusing to travel on their pre-season tour of the United States.
Koscielny is expected to be stripped of the captaincy and hit with more disciplinary measures after informing Arsenal last week that he wants to leave this summer.
The Frenchman is keen for the Gunners to rip up the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and grant him a return to his home country.
However, despite the relationship between player and club seemingly being damaged beyond repair, Monreal is confident that a compromise can be reached.
Asked whether Koscielny could still be reintegrated into the squad, Monreal is quoted as football.london as saying: "Yeah, why not?
"We respect Laurent a lot because he has played for Arsenal for a long time, he's our captain. It's something between the club and him.
"What I would like is they fix the problem and I think they will do it."
Bordeaux and Rennes are both reportedly interested in Koscielny, whom Arsenal value at around £10m.
