Stuart Pearce: 'Arsenal should sign Manchester City's Yaya Toure'

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure would be a "good signing" for Arsenal, according to Stuart Pearce.

Stuart Pearce has encouraged Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to make a summer swoop for Yaya Toure.

A recent report claimed that if incoming Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola decided that the Ivorian was surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium, he would be keen to remain in the Premier League.

With that in mind, Pearce has insisted that the 32-year-old midfielder could have the same impact on the Gunners to the one that Petr Cech has had this term.

"On his day Yaya Toure is outstanding," the former Man City manager told talkSPORT.

"Petr Cech has proved a fantastic success this year at Arsenal, and to have a player like Toure at the centre of midfield, as that holding type of player, I think he'd give one or two of the youngsters a bit of a lift. I think he'd be a good signing for them."

Toure is contracted to the Citizens until July 2017.
