Report: Newcastle United set £20m Yohan Cabaye price

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley reportedly tells Arsenal that they will have to part with at least £20m in order to prise Yohan Cabaye away from the club, after the Gunners had an initial £10m bid knocked back.

Newcastle United will reportedly demand a £20m fee from Arsenal or any other club that wants to sign their highly-rated midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

On Monday, Arsenal had a £10m offer rejected for the French international, who was then omitted from the Magpies squad that lost 4-0 to Manchester City in their Premier League opener later in the same evening.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has described the timing of the bid, and Arsene Wenger's valuation of the 27-year-old as "unacceptable", but it is understood that the St James' Park outfit will sell for the right price after seeing Cabaye's unsettled reaction to the Gunners' advances.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley responded to Arsenal's approach by saying: "Which part of him do you want to buy?". He then apparently suggested that any return offer should be in the £20m region.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in Cabaye, who moved to Tyneside from Lille for an undisclosed fee two years ago.
