Arsenal are reportedly preparing to face competition from Nottingham Forest for the services of Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa this month.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared for competition from Nottingham Forest in the race for Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa.

The 28-year-old has been a standout star at the Gtech Community Stadium this season, scoring once again during the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday night.

By putting one past the Citizens late in the game, Wissa became Brentford's all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, highlighting his importance to the Bees.

The DR Congo international has stepped up to the mantle as one of the main men in West London following the departure of Ivan Toney to Saudi Arabia during the summer window.

Since securing a switch from French club Lorient for £8.5m in August 2021, Wissa has featured in 132 competitive games for Brentford, netting on 41 occasions.

Arsenal face Nottingham Forest competition for Wissa?

After scoring 11 goals across his first 18 Premier League matches of the term, Wissa could be set for a move to a surprise destination during the winter window, as per The Telegraph.

The report claims that high-flying Nottingham Forest are big admirers of the 28-year-old and could make a swoop for the attacker before the February 3 deadline.

It is understood that the Tricky Trees will push for the signature of Wissa in the eventuality that Taiwo Awoniyi leaves the City Ground.

The Nigerian striker has fallen behind Chris Wood in the pecking order in the East Midlands amid interest from Graham Potter's West Ham United.

Arsenal are said to be keen on Wissa, who Mikel Arteta perceives as a player with the ability to operate successfully anywhere across the Gunners' front line.

Forest riding the wave with ambitious Wissa interest

Tipped to struggle for safety at the bottom of the table this term, Nottingham Forest have defied all pre-season expectations and are currently sitting pretty in third spot in the Premier League rankings.

With Champions League football a distinct possibility next season, the Tricky Trees are using their favourable league position to lure top talent to the City Ground.

Wissa is only trailing world-class attackers in the Premier League Golden Boot race, and it is highly unlikely that Forest would have a chance of securing the winger if they were languishing in the bottom half of the table.
