Tottenham Hotspur reportedly receive a boost in their bid to sign England international Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been informed that £50m will be enough to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.

Spurs are still searching for a replacement for Harry Kane after the England captain swapped North London for Bavaria last year.

As a result of Kane's move to Bayern Munich, Ange Postecoglou has been forced to use Son Heung-min and Richarlison in the centre-forward role.

Son is leading the scoring chart with 17 goals in 32 league matches this season, while Richarlison is the club's second top scorer with 11 goals in 28 top-flight appearances.

Despite Richarlison's respectable figures, Spurs are supposedly open to selling the Brazilian to help raise funds to recruit a prolific striker ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Tottenham learn Toney asking price

Tottenham are believed to be considering a move for Brentford's Toney, with a recent report suggesting that they are leading the race alongside London rivals West Ham United.

There has previously been a suggestion that Toney could be valued in the region of £70m to £80m, but Brentford are seemingly prepared to lower their financial demands.

According to Football Insider, Spurs have been given an indication that £50m will be enough to prise Toney away from the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

The report also claims that Arsenal and Chelsea have cooled their interest in the 28-year-old, boosting Tottenham's chances of securing his signature this summer.

Toney heading towards Brentford exit

Whether Tottenham prove to be Toney's next destination, it is becoming increasingly clear that he will bid farewell to the Bees at the end of the season.

With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, Brentford will be fully aware that the upcoming transfer window represents one final chance to receive a sizeable fee.

Toney, who joined Brentford in the summer of 2020, scored four goals in five matches after he returned from an eight-month betting ban in January.

However, Toney has since experienced a dip in form, having failed to trouble the scorers in any of his last 10 appearances.

If he does depart at the end of the season, he will be determined to sign off with strong displays in Brentford's final two matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
