Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied reports that he looking to try to sign Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
The Gunners sold Alex Song to Barcelona for £15m last week and and are looking to find a defensive midfielder to replace the Cameroon international.
Tiote, who has established himself as one of the finest holding midfielders in the Premier League following his switch from Dutch side FC Twente in 2010, is thought to have been on the radar for Arsenal, however Wenger says that the club are not looking to sign the Ivorian.
"Tiote is a good player, but he's not on his way to Arsenal," said Wenger.
The 26-year-old scored a dramatic equaliser in a 4-4 draw with Arsenal at St James' Park in 2011.
