Arsene Wenger: 'I want to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he wants to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the club, despite reports linking the player with a move away from North London.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reiterated that he wants to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the Emirates Stadium.

It has been reported that the Gunners are yet to open negotiations with the midfielder over a new deal, despite there being just 18 months remaining on his existing contract.

However, Wenger has said that he wants to continue working with the 23-year-old, who has been with Arsenal since 2011.

The Frenchman told reporters: "We want him to stay at the club. I bought him at a very young age and think he is developing well.

"This season he is making steps and moving forward. We have invested so much time and work in the player. He is integrating the qualities we want him to have and we want him to stay."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured 21 times this season but he has only completed 90 minutes on one occasion.
