AS Monaco stay third after victory over Metz

Monaco beat Metz 2-0 to stay in the third and Champions League qualification spot in Ligue 1.

AS Monaco are in prime position for the final Champions League spot in Ligue 1 thanks to a 2-0 victory over Metz.

Yannick Ferreira Carrasco went close for the home side after 10 minutes, but the Belgian could not find the target.

Juan Manuel Falcon then had a glorious chance for the visitors, but narrowly missed for the already-relegated club.

Ben Youssef almost opened the scoring for Metz, but his header went just wide of Danijel Subasic's post.

Bernardo Silva then stepped up in added time to give the home side a one-goal lead at the break.

Valere Germain doubled Monaco's advantage in the dying minutes of the second half to secure the win.

The win leaves Monaco third in the table, two points ahead of Marseille with one game left.
