Shay Given injury doubt for Aston Villa's FA Cup final against Arsenal

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood reveals that goalkeeper Shay Given is a doubt for the FA Cup final against Arsenal as he is struggling with a groin injury.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that goalkeeper Shay Given could miss this weekend's FA Cup final against Arsenal due to a groin injury.

The Irishman has played in every one of the club's FA Cup fixtures, despite being second fiddle to Brad Guzan in the Premier League.

On the final day of the season yesterday when the Midlands outfit suffered a 1-0 defeat to Burnley, Sherwood opted to throw Jed Steer into goal, but the coach insists that Guzan will start at Wembley if Given is declared unfit.

"Shay's a doubt," FourFourTwo quotes Sherwood as saying. "We're assessing him every day, I wouldn't have played him [against Burnley] anyway.

"If Shay wasn't going to make it and Brad was to get injured, we'd have a problem. We're not ruling Shay out yet."

During the season, Villa suffered a 3-0 defeat and a 5-0 loss to their FA Cup final opponents Arsenal.
