Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke believes that Tim Sherwood will help him to rediscover his goalscoring form, like he did with Emmanuel Adebayor at former club Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian striker gave Sherwood his first win as Villa manager on Tuesday night as his injury-time penalty secured a 2-1 victory over West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park.
Benteke has said that Sherwood is the right man to guide Villa out of relegation danger.
"I think the new manager understands my situation. I think he understands that I have to be given more chances and then maybe I will start scoring more goals," Benteke told the Daily Mail.
"I saw what he did with Adebayor and maybe it is a similar situation and I hope to do the same. He speaks with a lot of confidence. He's a very cool guy. I think for us he is the right manager.
"I am grateful to Paul Lambert for what he did for me. He brought me over here from Belgium and I had a successful time under him."
Villa are 17th in the Premier League table with 10 games remaining.
