Fabian Delph has admitted that he is powerless to keep Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke from leaving the club this summer.
The Belgian striker, 24, enjoyed an excellent end to the season by netting 12 times in his last 13 games for the Villans.
Speculation has mounted that Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are all monitoring the hitman, and Delph says that it is not his place to offer career advice.
"I wouldn't try to convince anybody," he told The Express. "Everyone is entitled to make their own decisions. If they have a chance to move on and better themselves, I can't tell them not to do that.
"If they want to commit themselves to the club and stay there then happy days there as well. But it is down to that individual."
Benteke is contracted to the Villa Park club until 2017.
