Brad Guzan has revealed that the Aston Villa squad are keen to secure European football.
The Premier League outfit have not featured in continental competitions since they lost to Austrian side Rapid Vienna in the Europa League back in 2010.
Having had a taste of those type of matches, American goalkeeper Guzan has admitted that the club are eager to make a return.
"We want to be in Europe. We want to do the best we can in terms of pushing up the table," said Guzan. "Any professional will tell you that they want to be playing at the highest level. To be able to play in the Premier League is an honour, but you want to push for Europe, Champions League and trophies.
"That's what everyone wants to play for. This is something special that we're building here. Nothing will happen overnight. But at the same time the pieces are in place to get things going.
"We are definitely a club that no longer has just a short-term, but also the long-term as well. That's a good sign for everyone."
Villa are currently 16th in the Premier League table.
