Aston Villa's Alan Hutton expects new tactics to eventually "pay off"

Alan Hutton is confident that Aston Villa's new tactical approach will "pay off", despite the opposing stance from a number of supporters.

Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton believes that the team's tactical approach will eventually "pay off", despite frustration from supporters.

The Midlands outfit have had a torrid season so far, having picked up just two victories in their last 18 Premier League games.

Paul Lambert's side are also the lowest-scoring team in all four divisions with just 11 goals to their name.

"I understand the crowd being disappointed, but if you look at it overall you can see we are really trying to work at something and do something different and it will pay off," the Birmingham Mail quotes Hutton as saying.

Villa's next game is at home to Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
