Tim Sherwood expects more from Aston Villa strikers

Tim Sherwood claims that he is expecting more from Aston Villa strikers Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor in the latter stages of the season.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that he is expecting more from Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor as the club look to secure their Premier League status for another season.

Both strikers scored in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park, and Sherwood claims that very few sides in England boast a more dangerous attack.

"I am looking for a few more goals. I have had a lot of chats with Gabby and Christian," the Villa boss told reporters.

"I just said to them that outside of the top six they have to be the best strike partnership in history - but you have to prove it and go and do it.

"The fans the other night were singing Gabby's name and you can't imagine how much players grow from that."

Villa host the Baggies again when the two sides meet in an FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
