Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood calls for six wins to ensure survival

Aston Villa need six wins to survive in the Premier League this season, says manager Tim Sherwood.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has challenged his side to win six of their last 11 games to ensure Premier League survival this season.

The Midlands side sit 19th in the Premier League table, level on points with 17th-placed Queens Park Rangers, and Sherwood is desperate for them to show more quality.

He told reporters: "If you look through the whole squad no one is really playing to their maximum. We need to use our brains and our quality. Now's the time to start showing that quality because there isn't a problem with heart and character in that dressing room. I see a lot of desire and heart and running around – but we need more quality.

"We need six wins. We have 11 games left and, as players, they need to start taking responsibility. Now is the time for points. We need a siege mentality."

Villa next face West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.
