Aston Villa playmaker Carles Gil has expressed his belief that his side will "start winning matches and moving up the table" under new manager Tim Sherwood.
A run of 11 Premier League outings without a victory has seen Villa slip into the relegation zone with 12 matches left to play.
However, Gil has insisted that Sherwood, who lost his first game in charge against Stoke City at the weekend, can help to turn the team's current form around.
"We are not going through an easy stage at the moment, but I have a lot of confidence in the team," he told the club's official website.
"There are some very good players here and I believe we will start winning matches and moving up the table. Having a new manager should make the team better because it's a fresh start for everyone."
Next up for Villa is a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
