Aston Villa have beaten Peterborough United at London Road, winning 2-0 in a game where they did enough without reaching top gear.
In a first half with few chances of note, it was 19-year-old Daniel Johnson who opened the scoring shortly before half-time.
Enda Stevens blasted a Stephen Ireland pass over the bar on 15 minutes and Charles N'Zogbia had a shot saved shortly afterwards, before Johnson was in the right place at the right time to tap in the opener.
N'Zogbia again went close early in the second half, but Villa were largely reduced to shooting from distance despite some nice football in midfield.
The result was wrapped up on 81 minutes by Brett Holman, the substitute smashing home into the roof of the net.
