Aston Villa and Newcastle United share the spoils at Villa Park.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United shared the spoils at Villa Park this afternoon.

Gabriel Agbonlahor put the home side in front during the opening 45 minutes, but Alan Pardew's Newcastle hit back after the break to claim a point for his side.

Hosts Villa had chances to win the match towards the end of the 90 minutes but were unable to breach Tim Krul's net for the second time.

Next up for Villa is a trip to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, September 24, while Newcastle host Blackburn Rovers a day earlier.
