Report: Aston Villa to give Paul Lambert £10m pay-off

Aston Villa will be forced to pay Paul Lambert a £10m compensation package after sacking him as manager, according to a report.

Aston Villa will reportedly have to hand Paul Lambert a £10m compensation package after sacking him as their manager.

The Scot lost his job at Villa Park on Wednesday following a run of 10 games without a win in the Premier League.

The former Colchester United and Norwich City boss had been in charge of the Midlands outfit since June 2012.

Lambert signed a new four-year deal in September, which was believed to be worth nearly £3m a year.

According to The Mirror, Lambert's new deal, like his previous one, did not include a compensation clause.

The report adds that the club will now have to pay up the contract in full as a result.

Lambert took charge of 101 competitive games during his time with Villa.
