Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has denied rumours linking the club with a move for Michael Owen.
The 32-year-old striker is currently looking for a new club after his pay-as-you-play contract with Manchester United expired.
"No, that won't happen," Lambert told the Birmingham Mail. "There was no enquiry from us, I don't know where that one came from.
"That's a non-starter. He's a top player, no doubt, a really top player, but that's for another team."
Owen claimed on Monday that he was "getting closer" to finding a new club.
