Aston Villa confirm that they are hopeful of signing Aalborg BK striker Nicklas Helenius.

Aston Villa have confirmed that they are in talks with Danish club Aalborg BK over a move for striker Nicklas Helenius.

The 22-year-old, who has two caps for his country, scored 16 goals in all competitions last season.

"Aston Villa can confirm that the club are in negotiations with Aalborg BK for the transfer of Danish forward Nicklas Helenius," read a statement on Villa's official website.

"The club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days."

Helenius signed his first professional contract with Aalborg in 2010 following a five-year spell in their youth system.
