Edoardo Reja hails "extraordinary performance" from Atalanta BC

Atalanta BC manager Edoardo Reja praises his side for earning an "extraordinary" 1-1 draw from their Serie A match against third-placed Lazio.

Atalanta BC manager Edoardo Reja has said that his players produced an "extraordinary performance" during their 1-1 draw with Lazio this afternoon.

The Nerazzurri had taken the lead at the start of the second half thanks to a header from Giuseppe Biava, before Marco Parolo struck late on to earn the Rome club a point.

"Before the game I would've been happy with a draw, but in the first half we pegged Lazio back and caused them serious problems," Reja told Sky Sport Italia. "Marco Parolo and Danilo Cataldi start the moves, so we worked well to press them and stop the creative centres.

"It was an extraordinary performance against a team that is of the highest quality both technically and physically, as it's not easy to find another game played at that tempo for 90 minutes.

"We are not safe yet, as looking at the fixture list it's still tricky. We cannot let go, not even for a centimetre."

Atalanta are 17th in the Serie A table and sit nine points clear of the relegation zone.
