Stephan El Shaarawy's first-half goal proves to be the difference between Atalanta and AC Milan in Bergamo.

AC Milan have registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Atalanta away from home in Serie A.

Christian Abbiati was called into action early on, as he had to clear a Giacomo Bonaventura cross aimed for German Denis.

The Milan goalkeeper then made a brave clearance off Facundo Parra's feet.

However, it was the Rossoneri who made the breakthrough and the goal came in the 29th minute.

Stephan El Shaarawy collected M'baye Niang's through-ball, got past Cristian Raimondi and shot home from inside the Atalanta penalty area.

Atalanta were reduced to 10 men on the hour mark when Davide Brivio was shown his second yellow card of the match.

That incident saw the second half become a scrappy affair, as Milan ran it down for a 1-0 win.
