Half-Time Report: Porto holding Athletic Bilbao at the break

Athletic Bilbao and Porto play out a goalless first half in their Champions League tie.

Athletic Bilbao are 45 minutes away from a likely exit from the Champions League after a goalless first half with Porto at San Mames this evening.

Shakhtar Donetsk's 1-0 lead against BATE Borisov elsewhere in the group leaves the La Liga side's hopes hanging by a thread in Group H.

The lively Jackson Martinez was causing problems for Athletic's defence and the Colombian international should have opened the scoring on 26 minutes, but the striker somehow put the ball wide after he found space at the back post.

The Portuguese side spurned a glorious opportunity at the end of the half when Martinez missed a penalty after Danilo had been fouled inside the area.

Should results stay the same, both Porto and Shakhtar would be up to eight points in the group, meaning that Athletic would need a big turnaround in goal difference and victories in their remaining two games to stand any chance of qualification.
