Athletic Bilbao have slumped to a second consecutive defeat in La Liga with a 2-1 loss to Getafe at the San Mames.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute when Juan Rodriguez headed in Pedro Leon's cross.

Getafe doubled their advantage on the hour as Alvaro Vazquez showed great improvisation in the area to bicycle kick the ball past Gorka Iraizoz.

Mikel San Jose pulled a goal back for the hosts in the final moments of injury time, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

The victory has seen Luis Garcia Plaza's men move up to eighth place in the La Liga table, while Marcelo Bielsa's side stay 16th.
