Mike Rico equaliser earns Athletic Bilbao a point

Athletic Bilbao come back from a goal down to earn a point at home to Valencia in La Liga.

Athletic Bilbao have recovered from a goal down at half time to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Valencia in La Liga.

The visitors took the lead two minutes before the break when Sofiane Feghouli was brought down by Aymeric Laporte after piercing the Bilbao ranks.

Ever Banega stepped up to take the spot kick and gave Gorka Iraizoz no chance by dispatching into the top corner.

Jonas nearly added to the lead in the second half but was denied by a wonderful save from Iraizoz, while Aritz Aduriz came close to equalising at the other end.

The end-to-end football continued as Feghouli failed to work the goalkeeper after getting on the end of Dorlan Pabon's deep cross into the box, before Iker Muniain struck the woodwork in the 73rd minute.

Los Leones finally got themselves level with 15 minutes remaining, with Mikel Rico nodding in from close range thanks to a knockdown from Oscar de Marcos.

Ernestro Valverde's men forged forward in the final stages of the match, but Los Che held firm to see both teams leaves the pitch with a point.
