Diego Simeone welcomes Atletico Madrid criticism

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone welcomes criticism of his team and claims that such remarks will 'help them grow'.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has revealed that he 'likes criticism' because he will never be completely happy with the performance levels of his team.

The capital side have made a strong start to the season domestically, but were beaten 2-1 at home by Benfica in their last Champions League match.

Ahead of Wednesday's European tie with Astana, Simeone has welcomed those that are currently questioning his side's credentials.

"I like criticism. It makes you grow, to try to improve. I wouldn't like it if Atletico, based on what we're doing, didn't have pressure to improve," AS quotes Simeone as saying. "We're one of the best teams in Europe and it's normal that it's required. We have to live with these demands to win and entertain, and it's not easy."

Atletico reached the final of the Champions League in the 2013-14 season.
