Atletico Madrid confirm agreement to re-sign Fernando Torres on loan

Fernando Torres agrees to return to Atletico Madrid on loan, just one day after sealing a permanent move to AC Milan from Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Fernando Torres has agreed to return to his boyhood club on loan from AC Milan.

The Spaniard will hope to rediscover his form at the Vicente Calderon from January until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The announcement comes just one day after the striker sealed a permanent switch to Milan from Chelsea following his arrival in Italy in the summer.

Torres, who began his career at Atletico, has struggled in recent seasons and failed to recreate the form that resulted in a then-British record £50m transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea back in 2011.

The 30-year-old made his first-team debut for Atletico back in 2001 and spent a further six years in Spain before signing for Liverpool.
