Atletico Madrid reportedly view Edinson Cavani as their primary transfer target ahead of the next window.

Atletico Madrid will reportedly place primary emphasis on signing Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain over the next transfer window.

The 32-year-old, who has made 293 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions, is expected to leave on a free transfer once his contract expires in June 2020.

Diego Simeone is keen to address his attacking options following a run that has seen Atletico score seven goals in eight La Liga fixtures.

According to AS, Atletico will look to make a move for Cavani over the January transfer window as Simeone looks to redress the balance of his attack.

The club, despite signing Joao Felix for £113m, recognised the need for more options going forward in the summer, coming close to signing Rodrigo from Valencia as deadline day approached.

It is also claimed that Manchester United are interested in signing the Uruguay international as a free agent next year, prompting Simeone to push for a January bid.
