Atletico Madrid skipper Gabi has insisted that the club will continue to thrive despite the loss of key players this summer.
The likes of Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois have all moved on from the capital, but reinforcements in the shape of Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic have been acquired.
"It's hard to say if we're better or worse. Important players are gone from the team, who gave everything, but we've also signed important international and European players who come from teams at a great level," he told AS.
"The Atletico base is solid. We have a very safe idea to play as we do. The team is calm, confident and we have to see if we are worse or better than last year."
Atletico face Real Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Tuesday.
