Getafe midfielder Juan Rodriguez has insisted that he was not trying to seriously harm Mario Mandzukic when he stamped on the leg of the Atletico Madrid striker on Sunday evening.
Atletico won the ill-tempered derby courtesy of a strike from Mandzukic, who was also involved in the two major off-the-ball incidents.
Getafe defender Alexis saw red for an elbow on the striker, before Rodriguez was seen to stamp on the leg of the Croatian immediately after.
"I didn't stomp to try and break his leg. I was very heated and I don't think anything will come of it because this is football," Inside Spanish Football quotes the Spaniard as saying.
"There was also a Judo chop in the penalty area and that wasn't called either."
It is currently unclear whether retrospective action will be taken.
