Diego Simeone backs Atletico Madrid to improve

Coach Diego Simeone says that Atletico Madrid's summer signings can help the club to improve this season.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has insisted that his side can improve upon their recent success this season.

The club secured a third-place finish in La Liga during the last campaign, having won the league title the previous year.

They have made a number of changes to their playing squad during the summer, but Simeone believes that they still have the quality needed to enjoy a fruitful season.

"We know [Luciano] Vietto, [Angel] Correa, [Yannick] Carrasco and Oliver [Torres] can greatly improve the team," he told reporters.

"We still have to improve a lot, especially from a tactical perspective, but the players will never lose their talent. This talent is necessary for winning games."

Atletico will begin their new La Liga season with a home clash against Las Palmas on August 22.
