Diego Simeone full of praise for Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone praises forward Diego Costa after another match-winning display in the 1-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has lavished praise upon Diego Costa, claiming that the striker has plenty of confidence in himself.

Costa was the match-winner for Atletico in the hard-fought 1-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday, latching onto David Villa's pass to score the only goal of the game in the second half.

The goal was Costa's fifth in the past six games, and Simeone has applauded the forward's patience after a difficult first half.

"He was not focused in the first half. I like how he came out of difficulties," Simeone told reporters.

"He found the diagonal or the right pass. He waited quietly his time, and that is what I have taken from his game. Moving from the difficulty to virtue with confidence in himself."

Atletico sit in second place in La Liga, three points behind league leaders Real Madrid.
