Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has revealed that he was pleased with his side's 2-1 win over Osasuna on Tuesday evening.
The three points extended Atletico's 100% start to the La Liga season ahead of the Madrid derby against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend.
"These games are complicated and close and at 2-1, there are always possibilities because it is a single goal's difference," Simeone told reporters at a press conference. "Up to the 33rd minute, the team did very well, then they pulled one back in the last minutes of the first half. The second half was the same, not the result itself but the chances.
"We needed to win and the players won it in the best way, but it's good to be going through stages that we will come across in the season, because it is very long and hard and there are no easy games."
"Where we focused on Real Madrid this weekend already? No, it was that we could not find a way through. Osasuna closed out the space properly."
Atletico currently sit second in the La Liga table.
