Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago has claimed that the Spanish outfit are "like Robin Hood".

The Portuguese has made the comparison in relation to their battle against Barcelona and Real Madrid – teams which have a significantly higher budget than Diego Simeone's outfit.

"I think we're like Robin Hood, we've got a great identity," he told reporters at a press conference.

"It is easy to identify yourself with us. Society is going through a time of crisis and we are fighting in the league and Champions League with big clubs.

"In a difficult time, people can relate to us, we fight against adversity. That's where we get the similarity with Robin Hood."

Atletico face Barcelona in the first leg of Champions League quarter-finals this evening.
