Diego Simeone hails Filipe Luis, Miranda

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that defenders Filipe Luis and Miranda are both having "a fantastic season" for the Spanish outfit.

The Argentine issued the response following a question about the surprise omission of the Brazilian pair from Luis Felipe Scolari's World Cup squad.

Both have played key roles in Atletico's impressive season, but have been overlooked for the competition in Brazil, which gets underway next month.

"Recently they haven't really been included in the squad. That question is more for them. For me they're having a fantastic season," Simeone told reporters at a press conference.

Atletico are chasing a La Liga and Champions League double in the remaining weeks of the campaign.
