The hosts came close to breaking the deadlock inside the first 10 minutes when Maxwell and Blaise Matuidi linked up before the latter crossed it in to Javier Pastore, but the Argentina international could not reach it in time.
Barcelona soon started to see more of the ball though, and came within millimetres of opening the scoring just before the quarter-of-an-hour mark when Lionel Messi collected the ball from a Luis Suarez pass before curling it towards the goal, only to see his effort come back off the post.
The visitors did get the breakthrough inside the first 20 minutes as Messi pounced on a loose ball, setting up Neymar to jab it into the bottom corner from close range.
The hosts were dealt a further blow a few minutes later when captain Thiago Silva was forced off with an injury, bringing the also injured David Luiz off the bench.
PSG could have been back on level terms with just under 30 minutes played as Matuidi led a quick attack, eventually setting up Edinson Cavani for a shot, but Javier Mascherano was back to block the finish.
Suarez charged forward just before the break in a bid to double the Spanish side's lead, but his shot was straight at the keeper, leaving Salvatore Sirigu with a comfortable save.
