Philipp Lahm says that he "can comprehend" Bayern Munich's 4-0 thrashing of Barcelona in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm has said that he was not surprised by Bayern Munich's thrashing of Barcelona in the Champions League this evening.

The German side beat the Catalan team 4-0 in the semi-final first leg at the Allianz Arena to all but secure a place in next month's Wembley final.

"Of course I can comprehend what happened today," he said. "We have the potential to beat any team.

"It is a well known fact that Barcelona have problems in the air. Our defensive performance was close to perfection, that was the key to our success today."

The return leg will be played at Camp Nou next Wednesday evening, with Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid facing in the other semi-final first leg tomorrow.
