Lionel Messi has provided his support to Barcelona teammate Philippe Coutinho, who continues to be jeered by the club's supporters.

Coutinho has endured an indifferent few months at Camp Nou, and the playmaker's performances have resulted in disapproval in the stands.

The Brazilian received the same reaction during the 3-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League, and Messi has admitted that he has been left unimpressed.

Messi is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "It's ugly that they whistle a teammate like this. We are all in this together. We have to be united to the end because we are close to are objective now."

Coutinho has still contributed eight goals and five assists from 44 outings in La Liga and the Champions League this season.
