Bernd Schuster believes that clubs who defend instead of attack do not deserve a place in the Champions League.

Ex-Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has slammed Celtic and other 'negative' sides for defending the entire match in away Champions League games.

Celtic almost hung on for a historic point on Tuesday night at the Nou Camp, but Schuster has said that teams that defend rather than attack should not be in Europe's elite tournament.

"I'm fed up of seeing these type of matches," Goal.com quotes Schuster as saying. "There shouldn't be teams like [that] in the Champions League.

"We saw it last year with Chelsea. It was a very bad example for football and it is regrettable that they became champions.

"You see Celtic defending with 10 and almost snatching a point, and that's not fair."

Celtic are currently second in Group G, five points behind leaders Barcelona.
